I focus primarily on engineering redox proteins to function as reliable sensors in health and environmental settings. This is primarily done through domain insertion. Domains are the structural, functional or evolutionary units of proteins which hold unique functionalities. By coupling two independent units, we are able to build novel synthetic structures offer new tools with improved, novel, or specific abilities.
